Read the 2023–2024 call, recover its three original files and plan an audience engagement project with clear deliverables.
  1. Research the audience
  2. Test messages and channels
  3. Pilot an engagement strategy
  4. Review feedback and decisions

What the original documents establish

The guidelines are dated 19 December 2023. They set a total call budget of EUR 30,000, an approximately five-month implementation period and a submission deadline of 31 January 2024 at 23:59 East Africa Time. The indicative implementation window was April–August 2024. These are historical conditions. The listing’s December date does not replace the deadline in the guidelines.

Who the call was designed for

Applicants had to be independent legal entities registered in an African Union member state, committed to civic participation and able to enter a grant agreement. Both nonprofit and for-profit organisations could be considered. The documents also required ethical management of personal information and relevant organisational capacity. Read the complete eligibility section before using this call as a model.

What each file contributes

The PDF explains the priorities, eligibility, costs and selection process. The DOCX asks for organisational information, methods, outputs, work plan and capacity. The XLSX separates human resources, travel, equipment, office and other costs. These are blank historical templates; downloading them does not submit an application or establish a new funding entitlement.

Build a delivery chain

Start with an audience whose information needs are poorly understood. Specify how you will recruit participants and protect their data. Turn the findings into message and channel tests, then a small engagement pilot. Name the person who will receive feedback, the decision they can change and the evidence they will report. Keep dissemination counts separate from a demonstrated institutional response.

Original source files

Historical source documents in English, provided unchanged. These pages are new editorial readers, not verbatim reproductions of the original announcements.

Try the method

Working example: a community network tests whether translated audio summaries make a consultation easier to understand. It records comprehension and unanswered questions, assigns a response owner and revises the next summary. This is a design example, not a reported result of the ECOSOCC grant.
