Historical call — the original application period has ended. The programme record and documents remain available for research and project preparation.
The earlier call for Zambia supported civil society engagement with democratic governance. Its documented institutional focus was ACDEG. The country page records an original deadline of 2022-07-03; the related PDF contains the detailed criteria and support arrangements.
Check the document sections on recipients, geographic focus, support, costs, selection and implementation. An amount or eligibility rule from another country call should not be transferred to this one. If a deadline differs between an original page and a later publication, consult the issuing programme rather than treating the earlier page as the current instruction.
Identify the community you want to involve, the public decision you want to influence and the institution that could respond. Document existing participation barriers. Explain how your technology changes that process and how people with limited connectivity can take part. The practical concept-note guide provides a structure for this work.
What is this call about?
This call will focus on using civic tech solutions to strengthen democratic governance in Zambia. Its main aim will be to support civil society in Zambia to raise awareness about the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance (ACDEG) and, among other things, advocate for its ratification and popularization as an important instrument that can help promoting, monitoring and assessing democratic consolidation and entrenchment of a democratic political culture.

The 2022 call had a total budget of EUR 30,000 shared between two or three Zambian civil society organisations. Individual grants ranged from EUR 10,000 to EUR 15,000; EUR 30,000 was not the amount for each recipient. The indicative timetable published the call on 13 June 2022 and closed expressions of interest on 3 July 2022. These are historical conditions, not a new funding offer.
